Job Description and Requirements
Located at the gateway to downtown Ketchum, Idaho, just minutes from Bald Mountain’s River Run base, The Observatory Sun Valley, A Viceroy Resort, will debut as Sun Valley’s first luxury hotel and for-sale residence offering. As part of the Viceroy team, associates will help bring elevated, experience-driven hospitality to one of North America’s most iconic mountain destinations.
The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food items across the resort’s restaurants, banquets, café, in-room dining, employee dining, and special event operations while maintaining luxury hospitality and culinary standards.
This role is a great opportunity for culinary students, aspiring chefs, or individuals interested in hospitality and food & beverage operations to gain hands-on experience in a luxury resort environment. Cooks will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced culinary leaders while developing a wide range of cooking techniques and operational skills.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes, presentation standards, and culinary specifications.
Support multiple culinary outlets including restaurants, banquets, café operations, employee dining, in-room dining, and special events.
Assist with food preparation, station setup, buffet presentation, and service execution during meal periods and events.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards throughout all kitchen and storage areas.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout each shift.
Assist with food storage, rotation, labeling, and inventory organization according to company and Health Department standards.
Support banquet and event culinary operations as scheduled by the culinary leadership team.
Work collaboratively with culinary and service teams to ensure efficient operations and exceptional guest experiences.
Maintain knowledge of menu items, cooking techniques, food quality standards, and proper ingredient handling.
Follow all safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures in accordance with company and Health Department guidelines.
Provide support across kitchen stations and outlets based on operational needs and business demands.

Qualifications
Currently pursuing or recently completed culinary, hospitality, or related education preferred.
Previous kitchen, restaurant, banquet, or culinary experience preferred.
Passion for food, hospitality, and guest experience.
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques including sautéing, roasting, grilling, frying, and food preparation methods preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment.
Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization.
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in varying kitchen temperatures.
Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
