Job Description and Requirements

Located at the gateway to downtown Ketchum, Idaho, just minutes from Bald Mountain’s River Run base, The Observatory Sun Valley, A Viceroy Resort, will debut as Sun Valley’s first luxury hotel and for-sale residence offering. As part of the Viceroy team, associates will help bring elevated, experience-driven hospitality to one of North America’s most iconic mountain destinations.

The Barista / Cashier is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while preparing coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and café offerings in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment. This role also supports café operations by processing guest transactions, maintaining presentation standards, and creating a welcoming and service-focused guest experience aligned with Viceroy standards.

This position is a great opportunity for students or individuals interested in hospitality, food & beverage, coffee culture, or guest service to gain hands-on experience in a luxury resort environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and café items according to established recipes and presentation standards.

Provide friendly, professional, and personalized guest service while creating a welcoming café experience.

Accurately process guest transactions including cash, credit card, and other payment methods.

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards throughout café and service areas.

Restock food, beverage, paper products, and café supplies throughout each shift.

Maintain knowledge of menu offerings, specialty beverages, ingredients, and daily features.

Assist with opening duties, closing procedures, side work, and operational checklists.

Support additional food & beverage operations as business levels and operational needs require.

Communicate guest feedback, operational concerns, or product shortages to leadership promptly.

Work collaboratively with team members to maintain efficient operations and exceptional guest experiences.

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and operational procedures in accordance with company standards.

Qualifications

Previous coffee shop, restaurant, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience is a plus but not required.

Interest in hospitality, café operations, coffee preparation, or guest service preferred.

Strong communication and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.

Professional, positive, and service-oriented attitude.

Ability to maintain attention to detail while working efficiently during busy periods.

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.

Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.

Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Willingness to learn, grow, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
