Job Description
The weed science program at the University of Idaho is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time weed science research assistant position. The primary work location will be at the University of Idaho Kimberly Research and Extension Center (3806 N 3600 E, Kimberly ID 83341).
Duties Include:
•Assistance with lab/greenhouse weed science research
projects
•Assistance with field-based weed science research
projects
•Assistance with research data entry
•Perform other duties as requested by the project
leader and support scientists.
Qualifications
•Educational coursework in one or more of the following disciplines: biology, weed science, crop production, plant protection, horticulture, agriculture, chemistry, or physical sciences.
•Effective oral and written communication skills
•Experience working with and without direct supervision; following good safety practices; and using basic personal computer software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
•Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive University of Idaho vehicles (pass driving record check and defensive driving course).
•Experience in scientific principles and conducting laboratory experiments; keeping accurate records; working on a farm; working in a greenhouse; and working in a laboratory.
•Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and be an integral team member; operate, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and resolve basic problems with instruments and farm equipment; follow good safety practices.
