RNG Operations Technician (OpTech)
Jerome Environmental Services, LLC is a small renewable energy company with many exciting opportunities in our future! We responsible for the operations and maintenance of a brand new anerobic digester facility in Wendell, ID . We are looking for multiple Operations Technicians (OpTech) to join our team!
The Operations Technician (OpTech) is responsible for the daily operation and oversight of the anaerobic digestion facility. The Plant Operator is the key point of contact for all inbound deliveries. This position encompasses daily plant operations including inspecting, testing, and documenting plant performance, material status, and related activities.
Under the direction of the Facility Manager, the Operations Technician performs the work associated with the operation of a dairy-based anaerobic digester, biogas conditioning skid, and associated equipment. The facility is comprised of a dairy digester, pumps, gas blowers, chillers, electrical generation reciprocating engines and related auxiliary plant equipment. The Operations Technician is responsible for the safe operation of the digester, including inlet and outlet process monitoring (biogas quality and quantity), equipment preventative and predictive maintenance, monitoring process operation, and problem escalation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
∙ Duties will include operating electrical generation and gas compression equipment, maintaining gas and fluid flows in the process equipment and piping, adjusting flows when required by plant operating conditions, operating gas handling equipment and cleaning strainers and wire screens as required for continuous operation, operating, and maintaining generated gas cleanup systems.
∙ Operating locally based computer systems for some sub-units within the biogas facility.
∙ Primary responsibility for plant housekeeping programs and material handling safety precautions to ensure safe working conditions in the biogas facility.
∙ Perform additional duties as requested or assigned by the Lead Operations Technician, Facility Manager and/or Senior Leadership.
∙ Maintain logs of instrument readings, test results and shift production.
∙ Install, operate, and maintain equipment including pumps, motors, mixers, and general equipment.
∙ Utilize inventory, work order and maintenance systems and track all maintenance and repair activities.
The OPERATOR TECHNICIAN (OPTECH) must be willing to learn all facets of a dairy-based anerobic digester, support equipment, and plant operations while following established operating procedures. Individuals for this position must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. An OPTECH will be trained in plant systems and equipment the tested to become a qualified site OPTECH. The schedule for OPTECH will be rotating shifts that include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

∙ High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
∙ Valid driver's license.
∙ Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, flexible hours, and holidays as required.
∙ Must be available for scheduled 24/7 on call.
∙ Must be willing to travel to other sites as needed.
∙ Must submit to pre-employment drug screening, physical, and background check
∙ Relevant maintenance and operational experience in an industrial or gas processing environment is desired. However, operational experience may be supplemented with military experience or training in a related field.
∙ Ability to follow directions and work well with little supervision.
∙ Competency working with computers; Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
∙ Ability to collaborate and work with a team.
Working Conditions:
∙ This is a physical job, requiring significant stamina and mobility to work with and around motorized equipment. Must be able to lift, stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, grasp, climb, push/pull, and work at heights up to 40 feet and in confined spaces. May be required to move up to 80 pounds on occasion.
∙ Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for climbing stairs and ladders (up to 15 feet), sitting, walking on paved and unpaved surfaces, and standing for prolonged periods of time; operating a computer and keyboard; visual acuity to review written documentation.
∙ Will be exposed to areas of heat, loud noise, combustible gases, rotating equipment, and other conditions typically encountered in an industrial operating facility/gas processing plant environment.
∙ Work in permit required confined spaces may occasionally be necessary.
∙ Will be exposed to animal manure and associated odors.
∙ Exposure to gases (methane, hydrogen sulfide) at low levels *Employees are issued gas meters to ensure safe levels at all times.
∙ Work occurs both indoors and outdoors. As a result, this role requires occasional work in temperatures over 100° and below 32°.
∙ Will need to communicate with dairy personnel and keep them updated on repairs or issues that affect their scope of work.
∙ Must wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, personal gas monitor, safety-toe footwear, hearing protection, face shields, ventilator, and an assortment of respiratory protective equipment.
∙ Must be aware of and follow all safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
