Job Description and Requirements

Job Description

The Aquaculture Internship will help foster learning opportunities and provide hands on experience in different aspects of a commercial aquaculture enterprise during a short-term appointment (e.g., from June to August or other 2-3 month periods). Internships are available in different ‘tracks’ including:

General aquaculture/farm operations
Food science/seafood processing
Research and development
Administration/Human Resources

Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred track(s) in their application. Interns will demonstrate a passion for aquaculture and a strong commitment to the principles of their chosen track. Responsibilities vary among the tracks, but may include daily fish husbandry and farm hygiene tasks (general aquaculture and R&D tracks), microbiological testing and shelf-life analysis (food science track), assisting with research projects and data collection (R&D and food science tracks), scheduling and other office support tasks (administration track). All internships offer unique perspectives regarding the inner workings of a large commercial aquaculture operation in addition to track-specific experiential learning opportunities.
