Job Description and Requirements

The Human Resources Intern will perform human resources tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department in order to develop skills to gain a comprehensive understanding of daily operations of a mid-sized human resources department.

Essential Functions

Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Undertakes a human resource related project(s).
Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Maintains the utmost integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records
Provides clerical support to HR department
May assist with HR duties related to copying, faxing, answering employee questions, sort-ing and distributing HR documents, checks, forms, benefits information, etc.
Assists with new hire orientation.
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings; recruiting, hiring and community events, parties, celebrations, etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

This job operates in an office environment. The position includes the use of office equipment in-cluding phones, computer, fax, copier, and the ability to help others with this equipment.


Physical Demands

This role requires walking, lifting, bending and standing. This position requires sitting for the ma-jority of the shift. This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is a temporary position lasting approximately 3 months and working 40 hours per week.


Travel

This position requires local travel for training, recruiting and community events.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Working towards a degree in Human Resources, Business or related field of study.
MS Office experience with Excel experience preferred.
