Job Description and Requirements
We provide opportunities for students who are currently pursuing education in the related earth sciences, engineering (civil preferred), drafting, and other fields to obtain hands-on field and laboratory experience (typically as sophomores, juniors, and seniors). STRATA’s Intern program translates classroom theories into practical application. Our Intern program can be a gateway into employment with STRATA after graduation.
Interns begin training and performing work under the direction of project managers, field, laboratory, and staff professionals. Interns receive hands-on experience with exploration, soil, concrete, aggregate, and asphalt, both in the laboratory and field. Interns will be exposed to and accomplish field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of construction materials. Our information is relayed to various team members and governing officials through documented site visits and communication directly with clients and contractors; thus, written and verbal communication skills are critical.
Qualifications
Qualified Interns will have college-level coursework in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, and ideally, Geotechnical Engineering, or possess other relevant certifications or experience that align with our business.
Interns will be familiar with using a personal computer, specifically Microsoft Office software, and accurate keyboarding in order to compose reports, prepare their timesheet, etc.
A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be required, as well as the ability to pass the pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screens.
