Under the direction of the Youth Recreation Supervisor, applicant will mentor, coach, and teach specialized youth activities including athletic, creative and stewardship endeavors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential
- Leads instruction and/or assistance for specialized youth activities including athletic, creative and stewardship endeavors.
- Assists with planning and execution of daily/weekly schedule for about 200 campers.
- Assists with the successful execution and delivery of care during the Summer Youth Recreation Program and Friday Adventures.
- Organizes and maintains equipment associated with assigned activity.
- Ensures a fun, safe, professional, and age-appropriate environment with no exceptions.

Additional
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications

Essential
- Elevated level of experience is preferable in athletic, creative and stewardship activities offered by Youth Recreation Programs. Activities include but are not limited to field sports, skateboarding, swimming, tennis, pickleball, golf, art, carpentry, gardening, cooking, hiking, and biking.
- Ability to interact with children safely, enthusiastically, and professionally, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

Additional
- Physically and mentally, perform the duties listed above (i.e., bending, stooping, reaching, pushing pulling, climbing, running, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, lifting (up to 20 lbs.) grasping, seeing, communicating, planning of activities, supervising, etc.).
- Ability to work well with the general public.
- Ability to perform essential duties efficiently and accurately with or without reasonable accommodation and without endangering incumbent or other employees.
- Valid driver’s license.

This role will allow interns to gain experience with planning and coordinating activities for a large group of children, communicating with parents, and assisting with the overall execution of a fun, safe, full day summer camp schedule for about 200 elementary and junior high students.

The Ketchum Recreation Department proudly offers a variety of programs for children and adults visiting and residing in Ketchum. Summer youth programs are a substantial provider of care for families during the summer months while kids are of out of school.
