Job Description

The fundamental purpose of this position is to provide safety oversight and support to the operational team and value-add workforce. The Safety Team Member is responsible for developing and maintaining a proactive safety culture throughout the RWC West facility while coordinating with the EHS management in Bristol, IN.

The Intern Project Scope

  • Enhance RWC West Safety Program by integrating with site leadership and safety council team to enhance our safety program
  • Ensures adherence to all safety rules and procedures, certifications, and compliance with all health, safety, and environmental government regulations.
  • Performs regular safety audits of the facility and promptly corrects/recommends any identified deficiencies.
  • Assists and participates in the coordination of inspections by regulatory agencies. Promptly communicates and provides expertise in corrections of any deficiencies identified.
  • Attend MDIs for safety concerns or to address near misses and injuries for immediate corrective action.

Output Desired for The Intern Project

  • Establish monthly/quarterly/annual inspections to local and OSHA standards.
  • Formalize and ensures accidents and incidents are reported and are promptly and thoroughly investigated in conjunction with the West safety council team.
  • Provides recurring guidance and training for EHS programs at the employee/supervisor level.
  • Job Safety Training (JSTs) reviews and current to employee moves

Qualifications

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to work alongside the local Operations Director and the EHS leader at the Headquarters and learn a great deal while building the experience of working in a professional manufacturing environment.

  • Pursuing a degree in Management or a Safety related curriculum - ideal
  • Knowledge of Environmental Safety regulations, with emphasis on wood milling and lamination industry
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations by the Department of Transportation for the trucking industry
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations for General industry
  • Ability to work in teams with others cross-functionally including outside vendors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills (e.g., MS Office including Excel PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
